Andean blackberry

Native to the Andes Mountains of Colombia and Ecuador, the Andean blackberry is called (latin: Rubus glaucus), and “Mora de Castilla”. In those regions grows the fruit, that provides strong resemblance to our native blackberry, at an altitude of up to 2500 meters. However, the Andean blackberry is bigger and has more flavors. In the final pulp healthy B vitamins and vitamin C and essential minerals such as phosphorus, calcium and iron are found. The latter is effective against anemia.

Apple

Among the most popular and well known fruits is certainly the apple (latin; Malus). Less is known, however, that the core fruit contains 30 different vitamins and trace elements. These include minerals such as potassium (100-180 mg), calcium, iron, phosphorus and magnesium. The apple has only 60 calories and is composed of 85 percent water, it supplies fructose and glucose and rapidly energizes and stimulates the digestion system.

Banana passion fruit

Banana passion fruit (lat. Passiflora tarminiana) is a passion fruit. It reaches a length of about 10 centimeters and thrives in the Colombian Andes. The Banana passion fruit resembles an unripe banana and has a very intense sweet taste. It contains orange, soft flesh with black seeds that are suitable for human consumption. The properties of passion fruit also have a high content of vitamin B3 and vitamin C. Other healthy ingredients are vitamin A, vitamin B12, iron, phosphorus and calcium. The Banana passion fruit is said to have a blood pressure lowering and sleep-promoting effect.

Borojo

The Borojo (Alibertia patinoi), in our country still almost unknown, however, is the healthiest of all fruits and found exclusively in western Colombia, Panama and in the rainforest. Because in order for it to grow it needs a humidity of about 85% and an average temperature of about 25 ° C. The fruit has a diameter of about twelve centimeters, its weight varies between 700 and 1000 grams. The unripe fruit has a green peel, when ripe it is brown and wrinkled. The fruit is creamy similar like an avocado and contains numerous seeds. The taste is aromatic and slightly tart. The name “Borojo” comes from one of the South American native languages: boro = head and jo = fruit. It points to the round, head-like shape of the fruit. The Borojo contains lots of vitamin A and C, is rich in iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc and phosphorus, essential fatty acids and has a very high content of amino acids. Because of its ingredients it is attributed to have a lowering effect of blood pressure and blood sugar. It balances the sugar levels in the blood and helps with bronchial ailments as well as for menstrual symptoms in women. In addition, the Borojo has a naturally stimulating energy as well as a strong aphrodisiac potency enhancing effect. The fruit juice is considered by the Colombians as “Jugo del amor” (love juice), which is why its enjoyed particularly by male Colombians and has a certain popularity.

Coronilla

The Coronilla (Psidium friedrichstahlianum) has its origins in Central America but is cultivated in tropical countries such as Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador. The fruit is approximately 9 cm long with a diameter of 7 cm and a weight of around 150g. This “white guava” as it is also called, is rich in vitamin A, B1, B2, B3 and C. and also of important minerals like calcium, iron and phosphorus. The Coronilla strengthens the lymphatic system and the function of the heart, it lowers blood pressure and regulates digestion.

Feijoa

Native to Brazil, is the pear-berry fruit feijoa (lat. Acca sellowiana). We know the “dark green fruit” also known as Feijoa. It contains whitish-yellow flesh, and four to five seed chambers, which contain seeds and jelly-like parts. The taste of Feijoa is sour or sweet and spicy and is similar to the taste of guava. Among the valuable ingredients of the Brazilian fruit include vitamin C, pectin, phosphorus, calcium, potassium and iron. The Feijoa is considered helpful and good for your digestion.

Grape

One of the oldest and longest cultivated plants in the world is the wine grape (lat. Vitis vinifera). The grapes originated in Asia Minor, the Caspian Sea and Armenia. At the present time the grapes are grown mainly in southern Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Since the grapes contain plenty of fiber, they are considered carminative. They also have a positive effect on bladder problems, kidney problems, gout and rheumatism. Healthy ingredients are the B vitamins, manganese and magnesium.

Guava

Another exotic fruit is the guava (lat. Psidium guajava). Its special features are an extremely juicy taste reminiscent of a combination of pear, quince and pear, as well as their exotic smell. The pink flesh is rich in vitamin B6 and vitamin C as well as minerals such as; iron, potassium, pectin, calcium and phosphorus. In addition, the guava has a positive and helpful effect on digestion and soothing to gastrointestinal pain.

Gulupa

The family of one of South America’s passion fruit Gulupa (lat. Passiflora pinnatistipula). This fruit grows in the Andes at an altitude between 2500-3800 meters. The small round fruit initially has a green and yellow color before reaching its maturity which is a purple color. There are numerous crystalline chambers in the pulp of Gulupa which contains a black core, that can be eaten. The Gulupa tastes both, sweet and sour and has a very pleasant taste & aroma. Since the Gulupa contains plenty of vitamin C, it has a calming effect on the body, it can also be used as a natural sedative. So it is considerably helpful for stress, high blood pressure and insomnia.

Lime

Malaysia is home of the Lime (lat. Citrus aurantifolia). Its typical features include the strong acidic taste. It also has valuable substances such as vitamin B1, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Also included are healthy omega fats. Lulo

The Lulo (Solanum quitoense) is known under the name “Naranjilla”. Native to the South American Andes in the north. The Lulo resembles a mixture of tomato and orange and has a refreshing, slightly sour and pleasant taste. The best way to enjoy this fruit is as juice. It has a green-yellow flesh and many healthy ingredients such as vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C as well as iron, phosphorus and calcium.

Mango

Orange

With its origin in China, Orange (Citrus × sinensis L.)  is known in German as “Apfelsine”. It represents a combination of grapefruit and tangerine. The Orange is one of the citrus fruits, which is most commonly cultivated worldwide. One of the main ingredients of the fruit is vitamin C.

Papaya

The Papaya (lat. Carica papaya) has its origins actually in Mexico. Nowadays, however, it’s cultivated in many other tropical and subtropical regions. The sweet, bright orange pulp of the fruit is considered to be low in calories. In addition, the papaya helps with the digestion, which is why it’s known as a designation diet fruit. Passion fruit

The passion fruit (lat. Passiflora edulis) has its origin in Brazil, but is cultivated and found also in modern times in other South American countries, South Africa and Sri Lanka. It is known under the designation and name passion fruit. A typical feature of the passion fruit is its distinctive gelatinous parts. It has a tangy sour and fruity taste. Peach

The peach (lat. Prunus persica) has been grown in the northern and central China regions for well over 6000 years. The fruit is known for its hair on its skin. The color of the peach ranges from yellow-green to yellow-orange to red. In contrast, its pulp is yellow, white or reddish in color. Peach contains important vitamins, minerals and trace elements. The carotenoids in the flesh are considered valuable. Soursop

In Germany and other European countries the soursop (lat. Annona muricata), is also known as Soursop. The fruit grows in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America areas and the sometimes north of South America. Included in the dark green thorny fruit is soft white flesh, which has lush black cores. Usually, the sweet-sour-tasting Guanábana is however not eaten, but cooked to a juice. In the fruit a vast amount vitamin B, vitamin C and fiber are included. It’s known in Central and South America, that the Guanábana has an antimicrobial, anticancer and anti-parasitic activity and content, which was also confirmed scientifically recently.

Strawberry

Tamarind

Tamarind is referred to the sleeves of “Tamarindus indica”, which is of the tamarind tree. The finger-wide tamarind reach a length of 5 to 20 cm and thrive in East Africa. The pulp can be found below the gray-brownish to cinnamon peel, which has a brownish to black reddish color. The pulp is surrounded of 10-millimeter pits. The composition of the tamarind is mostly made of up to 20 per cent tartaric acid and 35 to 50 percent of fruit sugar. The fruit contains some vitamin A as well as minerals such as sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, and phosphorus.

Tangerin

The origin of the tangerin (lat. Citrus reticulata) is suspected to be in the southwestern China or in the northeastern India region. Tangerin resemble oranges but are much smaller and have a milder flavor that is unmistakable. Tangerines contain healthy ingredients such as vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin C, potassium and fiber.

Tree tomato

Tree tomato is a tomato-like, oval fruit native to Colombia, where it has been grown for hundreds of years. Since the “red tamarillo tomato” is similar, it is also called tree tomato. The firm flesh of the fruit has a dark red color, while the sweet-tart flavor resemble of the tomato and apricot. The tamarillo is rich in vitamin C. 100 grams of fruit flesh contains approx. 25 milligrams of vitamin C. Included also in the Tamarillo/tree tomato are phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium and pro-vitamin A.
